WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

We are open 365 days a year. Monday – Friday from 6am until 11pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 10pm. Exceptions: July 4th (10am – 4pm) Thanksgiving (10am – 2pm), Christmas Eve (Close at 4pm), Christmas Day (12pm – 5pm), Boxing Day (the day after Christmas),   (10am – 11pm), New Year’s Eve (Close at 7pm) and New Years Day (Open at 11am).

I HAVE NEVER CLIMBED BEFORE – HOW SHOULD I START?

Our Pro Belay is a great way to climb for the first time. You can form a group of up to 4 climbers taking turns climbing while our instructor manages the rope. All gear is included. No age minimum. Call to schedule your Pro Belay.
If you would prefer to experience climbing on your own you can purchase a day pass, rent a pair of shoes and boulder (climb at low heights with no rope) on your own.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OWN GEAR?

No. We have rental gear.

CAN I BORROW MY FRIEND’S OLD GEAR?

Old shoes are fine to wear. Old harnesses are a different story. Do not use any harness more than 10 years old.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear clothes that are comfortable and allow movement.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOWER?

Yes we have a shower and five individual bathrooms for changing clothes.

DO YOU HAVE LOCKERS?

Yes. Please bring your own lock or purchase one in our Pro Shop.

SHOULD I WEAR SOCKS WITH MY RENTAL SHOES?

Optional. Some people (kids particularly) find that socks make the rental shoes more comfortable.

CAN I CLIMB IF I AM AFRAID OF HEIGHTS?

It is normal to be afraid of heights! Learning to deal with this fear is part of climbing.

HOW OLD DO KIDS HAVE TO BE TO TAKE YOUR CLASSES?

Children younger than 5 are welcome to climb in our gym but our formalized instruction begins at age 5. Check out our Youth Programs.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE BRING MY CHILD IN TO CLIMB?

A child can climb in our gym as long as they have a current waiver signed by their parent or guardian. All children under age 14 must be under direct adult supervision while in the gym. Stone Gardens Waiver.

WHAT ARE THE BUSIEST TIMES?

Mondays through Thursdays from 7 till 9pm plus weekend afternoons.

WHAT IS BOULDERING?

Bouldering is climbing without a rope. Falls are onto a padded flooring system.

WHAT IS TOP ROPING?

Top roping is climbing with a rope attached to your harness and a belayer to catch your falls.

CAN MY CHILD CLIMB TODAY?

Yes, but children under age 14 will must be under direct adult supervision and can only boulder (climb at low heights with no rope). If your child wants to climb on a rope, call us to schedule a Pro-Belay.

DO YOU DO BIRTHDAY PARTIES?

Yes we do! Climbing parties are a great way to celebrate an event. See Groups & Parties page for details.

HOW CAN I LEARN TO BELAY?

Take a 2 ½ hour class and we will teach you how to belay. See Climbing 101 page for details.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BELAY TEST?

In order to belay in our gym you must pass our belay test. Any of our front desk staff can administer this test for you and there is no need to make an appointment. In this test you will need to correctly and safely:
Put on your harness
Tie yourself in as the climber with a rewoven figure eight knot and a back up knot
Explain the climber and belayer safety check
Set up to belay with a tube style or ATC belay device
Use climbing commands
Exhibit safe belaying technique with a designated brake hand on the braking side of the rope at all times
Catch a few mock falls
Lower your climber

IS THERE A FEE FOR THE BELAY TEST?

No.

IS MY BELAY TEST VALID AT BOTH STONE GARDENS LOCATIONS?

Yes.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL THE BELAY TEST?

You may not belay anybody till you pass it after at least another day has passed.

CAN I CLIMB IF MY FRIEND BELAYS ME?

Yes, as long as your belayer has passed our test.

DO I NEED A CLIMBING PARTNER?

No. You can Boulder or use Auto Belay devices.

HOW CAN I FIND A CLIMBING PARTNER?

Wear our tag that indicates you want a partner.

CAN I USE MY GRIGRI IN YOUR GYM?

Yes, if you have passed our belay test. You must use your GriGri in accordance with all manufacturer’s recommendations.

HOW CAN I GET BETTER AT CLIMBING?

Our Technique Classes are great ways to build your skills and climbing stamina.
